Customer Review: Average TV; maybe b/c it’s not made by Sharp
Saw this TV at a warehouse club (starts with “C”). Average picture. Not as good as the other non-DVD Sharp 32″. Found out that this TV is made by Orion (Sansui) while the non-DVD 32″ is made by Sharp.
Customer Review: Simple, works well, great picture, sound could be better
I purchased and installed this model a few days ago. I also purchased a wall bracket from Amazon and hung it on the wall within a 1/2 hour. This Sharp picture is great, DVD works quite simply by sticking a DVD in the side slot, but the sound out of the built in speakers could be better.

We have this in a small bedroom where the sound level will be adequate but even at max volume I found it not to be as loud as one might expect (perhaps it is just this one unit?). The quality of the speakers is also not up to par - but good enough. I expect most people who are purchasing this type of LCD with a built in DVD are doing what I’m doing; putting it somewhere like a small room where there is no other equipment like an A/V receiver and surround sound system. So the expectation is for good quality sound and sufficient volume. I have some external, self powered, speakers I could use but that would defeat the compact setup I desired.

All that said though it is adequate and I would still recommend this TV/DVD combination. The price was right, the TV isn’t too heavy to handle when mounting it, and the remote is reasonably designed. I had the stand installed for a couple of days and it was quite stable although offers no tilt. I like the idea that it has HDMI, composite, component, and PC inputs so I can expand its use if I wish.

    Customer Review: w00t!!!
I LOVE my new tv. I got it because it fit in my space good and I am amazed at how good it looks and sounds. I would highly recommend this tv. I think for a TV under 40″ you don’t really need the 1080 dpi. I did a lot of research and this is teh one I got it is sweet!
    Customer Review: 100% Satisfied…
I bought this television five months ago, and could not be happier. My buddy bought a 41 inch 1080p LG at the same time, and i can not see one single bit of difference in picture quality between the two. Xbox 360 looks every bit as good in 1080i on my tv as PS3 does in 1080p on his, same with hd cable tv and blu ray. All in all, this is the largest size 720p set you can buy with no difference in picture, and i swear to you that there is absolutely NO difference. I love this tv, i dont quite understand the opc setting, as it dims and brightens the picture according to darkness, but is sort of annoying so i leave it off, and the only other problem is the cord falls out when you move the television, but how often do you do that. I now swear by sharp, and i had previously had a very strong loyalty to samsung. Another buddy is a sony guy, and he is planning on a sharp next time around, even though he had just purchased a 1080p sony. Out of the box, it is so bright it hurt my eyes, which is good…which is good. The color and blacks are amazing. Dont hesitate for a second to buy this set, you will not be sorry.

Customer Review: 40″ Bravia Sony HDTV
I purchased the 40″ Sony Bravia HDTV. I am very please with how it arrived. It is perfect in every way…..
    Customer Review: Awesome TV
I’m not going to write about all the technical stuff. That’s been done. We love this TV. We’re not high tech folks and could plug this in and watch. It does replace an older model tv so anything modern would look better but still it makes watching tv a better experience. It is very easy on the eyes too. Color is beautiful. We’re very pleased. Perfect!

Customer Review: Shines in video, tad weak in audio
    PROS

    Video:

Consistent high picture quality across all resolutions, but at times consistently over saturated at 480i analog. With available custom user settings, the SE94 allows one to set a custom preset 480i color compensation. All the following were reviewed via Cable TV setting, DVD player or using the [...] test DVD.

    color balance
    image movement
    still
    sharpness
free of artifacts: jaggies, ghosting, image runs, especially in fast motion video

These are the settings I’ve tested:
480i via analog TV signal or digital
480p standard DVD output and digital TV
    720p Broadcast HD digital
    1080i Broadcast HD digital
    1080p DVD output upconverting

Sharp’s advanced video features are set at default, most are OFF. The test DVD showed a small amount of red color bleed and slight staggering in anti-aliasing tests, but no moire patterns.

I compared the video with input provided by a Sony NS700H/B DVD Player. The video is inferior via composite but there is little difference in images between component and HDMI inputs. I compared audio RCA cables instead of component cables on the component jack and was surprised by a slightly degraded picture, so slight it would not be noticed unless it was compared against HDMI.

HDMI offers some convenience features: it auto selects the HDMI input once signal is detected, and turns off the device automatically once the TV is turned off.

    Tuner:

Includes NTSC, ATSC and QAM tuner. The QAM tuner allows access to ‘open’ digital channels, not advertised by the cable company.

    Shipment:

Via Amazon ordering, deliverer carefully followed sign off instructions to the letter: allowed me to examine the condition of the box at delivery, open box, and examine contents before I signed off on the delivery.

    Setup:

Quick and easy. Attach speakers then mount stand, all screws or bolts supplied with tools. Plug into AC and cable coax, and the SE94 automatically detects signal and begins EZSETUP process. Follow onscreen instructions and when done, the TV is ready to watch cable or air broadcasts.

For Input jacks, equally easy. Just snap on the cables as color coded or the HDMI, then select INPUT from the remote until you receive signal from the device. On HMDI devices, it auto detects signal and auto selects that input first.

Setup is unique per input. The SE94 remembers the volume and video setting of each input.

    Packing:

Very durable and sturdy. The lower half of the box serves as a stand until you can assemble the enclosed stand. Importantly, the styrofoam pads never go farther than the metal frame of the LCD panel, and thus do not touch the glass panel anyway. It would be wise to save the box in case this TV needs to be returned, its very customized to the TV and difficult to provide the same protection for shipping as this box.

    Instructions:

The Sharp manual is not as well written as a Sony manual. It seems to require more careful reading, whereas Sony’s has always been user friendly.

    Cables:

None supplied. I used or bought cables elsewhere.

    Faux leather trim:

Is almost invisible, other TVs with shiny metallic borders often get dulled by fingerprints, the faux leather appears cleaner longer because it hides dirt better.

    CONS

Remote layout poor but provides access to all the TV’s functions: related or frequently used buttons are not grouped logically together and often small; it can’t be operated without looking at the keys, e.g. the universal controller has a toggle that lights up LEDs when its set for DVD, VCR, TV etc., whereas on a Sony, these are all unique buttons, and easier to find and press.

Bands: Using the detailed [...] TV tests, slight bands were detected on my SE94 using ‘grey scale’ test, its otherwise most invisible. On some LCD TV forums, there are reports of sizable bands in the SE94 series that are annoying and can be seen in regular video. Just how common these are is unknown.

Volume is a tad weak: at 15Wx2 its rated stronger than many competitor LCD TVs yet it output is weaker compared to my old analog TV. The emulating ‘Surround’ algorithm of Sharp is not as ’surround’ as the SRS algorithm.

    CONCLUSION:

Given the audio issue, I’d rate it 4.5 Stars versus 5. The video is so stellar, it more than outweighs the audio drawbacks. Buyers should be cautious that reports of banding has been reported in the SE94 series, and it can be very troublesome.

    Customer Review: Great TV
Great TV. It would be unwise to pay more money for higher end models. I
have seen higher end models and really can’t see a difference. The sound
on this TV is just fine. I guess the other reviewer expected this TV to have a bose surround sound built in. I am very happy with my TV and Cructhfield for having the lowest price anywhere. I have done extensive research and found this TV to be the best bang for your buck. I don’t see how you could go wrong with this TV. It might not have features like PIP or some other silly feature people want thats never used. This TV has all the features I need. It has a great picture and looks good. Don’t get caught up in specs;this TV is great. So far im very pleased. I have another westinghouse 32″LCD and 20″ computer monitor that are 2 years old. At this point im very pleased with them thats why I decided to buy a 3rd from them. Long as this TV holds up like the other two I will be very pleased.

Customer Review: great tv, great price
I have had this tv for about 4 months now and I must say that I absolutely love it. The matte screen completely eliminates any glare or reflections and provides a great HD picture. The thing I have actually been impressed with is the quality of the SD picture. there is very little pixelation and I actually think its better on this than on my old SDTV. Overall a great buy and great performance.

    Customer Review: wow
I bought this tv at sears after months of consideration, i work there so i looked at them almost every day, i finally got it for a good price and i havent looked back since! The xbox 360 looks amazing and i watched sin city on it last night omg its amazing. I ordered some hdmi cables on amazon i cant wait to see the improvement, it is all ready great.
    Customer Review: question…..
I’m noticing while brighter background colors are displayed, and the subject is darker I’m receiving faint gray horizontal lines on the brighter background. It doesn’t matter what device the image is coming from, upconvert dvd player, cable reciever, or xbox 360. Its less noticeable on the HD cable signals. Has anyone else discovered this or is this just an isolated case?
