Sony Bravia M-Series KDL-37M4000 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV 37″ widescreen HDTV (16:9 aspect ratio) * high-gloss black finish * built-in digital (ATSC) and anal…
Customer Review: suprisingly bad performer
I purchased it somehow mislead by other Sony Bravia reviews.I even bought 3 year extended warranty, since I was convinced this is a good TV.I sold my 42″ Visio plasma TV, since it was too big for my bedroom and since it was plasma, too “hot” in terms of power consumption and heating effect I was getting in my bedroom (Florida).I sold it to my friend and boy, I really am sorry now!The picture quality of this 37 inch Bravia is a shame. First of all the lack of decent black levels showing the picture as it would be a watching through “milky cloud” - I’m unable to get a balanced contrast/brightness level. It’s either to milky or the contrast is blown out of balance.
Also, colors are unnatural.Since the blacks or dark colors are showing cloudy too, it’ easy to notice all digital artifacts that are associated with a compressed imaging coming from cable television (and I really do have excellent TV signal, coming from Verizon FIOS TV digital box).
It’s very modest to say, that getting this TV 2 stars out of five is generous rating.
Overall lousy performance, washed out colors, poor contrast and impossible to get balanced picture.
The only good this TV is doing for me is not heating my bedroom…since I’m not watching it almost at all.
Buyers Beware!I would love to replace it…

Customer Review: WARRNING
Don’t buy a Syntax Olevia! I bought one and it died almost to the day the warranty went out. Customer service said I would have to pay to ship it back and pay the parts and labor to fix it and that would cost over half of the TV’s cost. They wouldn’t offer to help with anything and they said they lost my registration card, the same one they used to call me with to ask me how I liked it a week after I bought the TV. So all I can do is to post this to every blog I can to try to inform others.
Customer Review: A pretty good deal
I have had this TV for about 5 months now and have used most of its features. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. The picture and audio are very good. I had a Superbowl party and all my friends watched the game on this TV and very were all quite happy. My only complaints so far are:
1) The TV takes some time (around 10-12 secs) to start up. I wish it booted faster
2) The remote control is not compatible with my Comcast DVR; so i need to use 2 remotes
Given the low price of the TV, I am happy to live with the above mentioned shortcomings. Ofcourse, you know this is not a “top of the line” TV. But if you looking for good quality for an affordable price, you would like this TV

Customer Review: Best TV ever
Great picture. Excellent white glove delivery. It was so good that I bought a 2nd one exactly like it for our 2nd bedroom.
Customer Review: Fantastic set - no complaints !!!
Bought this a few months ago - tinkered around with all the settings - hooked it up to my PS3(80gb model - the best!!) - used DVD & blu-ray calibration disks to fine-tune and after endless hours of experimentation the results are satisfying - if not spectacular.
1) Connections - has more than what you might normally need, unless you are a hardcore techie setting up a really hifi home-theater setup. Go thru the specs
2) Audio - from a layman’s perspective(& I would consider myself slightly up the curve compared to a layman), audio is excellent. Bass is terrific - (pseudo)surround-sound works like magic with TV programs that broadcast in surround sound - it is not tinny to hear. Supports optical digital out which might be downmixed to dolby pro-logic. That should not matter in case you are feeding audio from your sources to your home-theater receiver. IMP NOTE - if you hook-up your AV source to this TV via HDMI, audio is downmixed to 2-ch LPCM. (Note that LPCM is pure uncompressed, better than compressed formats like dolby digital or DTS, channel for channel - of course, this is 2-ch so again recommendation is to connect your AV source to your home theater receiver).
3) Video - this is spectacular. This TV is billed as a 1080i but make no mistake it accepts full 1080p inputs. The result (my viewing distance is around 8 ft) is indistinguishable from an equivalent 1080p (I spent tons of hours in research and comparison). Colors, detail & sharpness are ourstanding when watching BD movies from my PS3 hooked up via HDMI. Absolutely no complaints.
IMP NOTE - it is essential that you spend time calibrating all the myriad pic options to suit you best. I found that if I started by setting all options “dead center or middle” and then tweaking each one as high as my eye found pleasing, with final fine-tuning touches by using calibration DVDs, results were spectacular. Spend time on these calibrations and your labors will be rewarded.
I DO NOT have HD TV transmission - have regular DirecTV but the results are still VERY GOOD. Yes, there is a slight smudginess etc(will be there when you watch regular transmission on ANY HDTV) but this one likely deals with it in the best possible way. The results are as if you are watching the best quality VHS tape and oh yes - the south asian channels that I get - for some reason look almost HD-like on this TV.
I got it on sale for 839/- and in its size-class this is probably the best one for the price, still!!!! Go TOSHIBA REGZA!!!

Customer Review: Dandy Little Hi-Def TV
I bought this on a whim for my bedroom, priced suspiciously under $300. Plugged it into HDTV cable box, and it has a groovy high-def picture and good stereo sound. Love it!
